Starting to Get Started for 2018

Since the end of March is the last frost date for my area, I decided it was about time to start getting my garden ready. The first thing I needed to do was to get organized with my seed starting area and see what I have and what I need.

I know I need some seed starting discs and I need to do something different with my LED lights.  I think they were too high up, but it will be pretty simple to lower them down a bit on each shelf.  I need to create more reflective area to shine the light back on the plants.  Last  year I used aluminium foil on 2 sides.  I think I will use more this year and I need to see if I can get enough light to reflect down where those jugs are.  Right now there are 3 jugs there, but I will have 4 total, once i finish drinking the Hi-C out of the last one.  What am I going to do with those jugs?  We’ll see.

I have some seeds I already bought, a few packages of sunflower seeds and some tomato, cantaloupe and I think some other seeds I saved when I was eating things from the garden.  I guess I should have labeled them better. The sunflower seeds weren’t very successful last year, so I will try to use what I have left a little more carefully.  I also have some lavender seeds that I need to plant differently this year as well.  I think my biggest issues last year was that the year started with a good amount of rain and then it stopped and I didn’t have a way to water certain areas.

I put my left over seeds from last year in a plastic bag and put it high up on a table in my storage shed and forgot about it.  Well, it looks like some mouse decided that this was the best place to live and ate all the seeds or just peed and chewed on everything. So, it looks like I need to get some new lettuce and other seeds this year, which I wasn’t planning on doing. This was a bit of a disappointment for the day and after I cleaned up a few things and straightened up by seed starter baker’s rack, I decided to go do something else.

I still plan on creating a garden wall, I just need to get around to finishing it. Also, there is another new addition to the garden this year that I hope will make growing a little easier on the Grilling Deck.

When I was looking at the flower garden, I noticed that there might be some flowers getting ready for spring.  It is hard to tell what is weed, flower or grass, but since I planted bulbs in a line, it doe seem that these are part of that planting.

If this is the case, then I hope to see plenty of flowers and hopefully they will attract plenty of pollinators to the gardens.

Talking about B.Ed institutes in India, Maharshi Dayanand University is one such institute which offers the levitra generika appalachianmagazine.com best higher education courses. Interestingly, the findings did not show any substantial changes between men who took ED meds and appalachianmagazine.com cheap viagra men who were suffering from erectile dysfunction. The same individuals who reported this also occasionally reported http://appalachianmagazine.com/2018/09/26/wythe-county-schedules-tire-collection-day/ viagra no a general sense of instability in the lower extremities, although these subsided as the effects of the drug wore off? In recent years we’ve seen Rohipnol and other “date rape” drugs become highly controlled substances, and their non-consensual use be punishable with years in prison. It is a nutritive cialis discount overnight tonic to improve stamina, male potency and strength.
The Side Micro-Garden is looking pretty sad.  I plan on putting up a fence for the raspberry bushes to grow on and then move the curly poles to the Front Micro-Garden for the tomatoes, since they are meant for tomatoes.

Compared to last years, the strawberries look like a wild mess. I covered them up with a bunch of leaves last year.  This year, I just left the leaves that landed in the garden and didn’t add any new ones. I’m not sure if that was good or not, but we’ll see what happens when spring starts.  I plan on cleaning up the garden and adding some more soil and nutrients.

Finally, the Front Micro-Garden looks like a slab of dirt. I dug it out a little bit longer and added the dirt from the garden bags and potato bags. Which means I need to buy more dirt when I start getting things going.  As you can see by the little bits of green, if it isn’t covered, then something is going to grow in it.

And, if I leave something in the dirt, it will make it through the snow and keep growing.  Maybe I’ll get some real sized carrots out of that bunch. I’m just going to let it grow for now.

Also, it looks like the spring garden lettuce mix decided that cool weather was a good time to come back to life. I was surprised to see that grow. Maybe there will be some lettuce big enough to pick before spring begins.

For the next few weeks, I’ll slowly get things around so that I have things growing before spring really gets here in just over a month or so. I don’t want to be caught planting late.
